Summary

This work is dedicated to the investigation of humanistic ideas and tendencies in Romanian philosophical thinking in the XVIIth century to the beginning of the XVIIIth century, from the interdisciplinary outlook of history of philosophy, philosophy of culture, cultural anthropology, religion philosophy, literary history, arts history.

In the Introduction the actually of the theme and the level of problem research are motivated, the goal and the tasks of the work are defined and the methodical support, the novelty of the investigation and the applied value are indicated.

In the first chapter the methodological principles of research are exposed, the economic, social and cultural premises of the humanism in the Romanian philosophical culture and thinking are elucidated and relation between the Byzantine tradition, within which the Romanian culture has been developed over many centuries, and the new humanistic influences and baroque orientations of occidental origin are analyzed. It has been demonstrated that humanistic tendencies in Romanian philosophical culture and thinking from the XVIIth - XVIIIth centuries are expressed throughout the development of the fund of old and Byzantine thinkers ideas, which is present in the Slavonic and Romanian literature.

The second chapter represents an analysis of ideas movements and cultural contacts which contributed to the affirmation of humanism in Romanian culture in the XVIIth century- the beginning of the XVIIIth century. It has been proved that the modernization process of Romanian culture and society has manifested throughout the affirmation of Romanian language as language of culture, the development of printing and libraries as institutions of liquidation of illiteracy, the school institutional diversification and the appearance of new structures of education, throughout the tendencies of confessional unification and tolerance, expressed in the works of Romanian humanists of that period of time. It is also emphasized the role of antiquity culture in the affirmation of humanistic ideas.

The third chapter is dedicated to the research of humanistic conception over the human being, based upon the harmonious unity of two principles- earthly and heavenly, on telluric rehabilitation, in the framework of which the creative potentialities of the man, as a creative human being who continues the nature or divinity work can be achieved. The conception of Romanian humanists about man is based on human dignity, on the individual personality affirmation tendency, on the promotion of the idea of common wealth service, the activity for collectivity, society and native land benefit. The humanistic view of the active man is also imposed throughout the theory of ”unreliable chance”, based upon a renaissance idea, according to which the human happiness consists of conscious use of possibilities offered by the destiny on this earth.

In the fourth chapter the philosophy problems of history are analyzed. It is proved that the concept of culture and civilization promoted by the Romanian humanistic thinkers is based on principles of nobleness through culture and oneness of human civilization, on the affirmation of culture value as a constituent element of human being. The Romanian humanists shared the outlook of universality or oneness of human civilization, which overpasses the ethnic barriers, but also the confessional and religious ones. According to Romanian scholars view from the respective period, the history is developing within some historical and geographical cycles. The problem of Latinity linked to that of ethnic identity has a special ampleness in the Romanian philosophical thinking in the XVIIth century - the beginning of the XVIIIth century. The Romanian humanists have proved, in special works, with historical, linguistic, archaeological and ethnologic arguments, the Latin origin and the people’s unity. The imaginary identity is tied to the image of the other; the self-definition is directly correlated with the alliteration, which generates not only tensions but also values changes. The values changes have facilitated the communication, contributing to the revision of an own axiological system. In the conclusion it is ascertained that the intense circulation of humanistic ideas has contributed to the affirmation of a new mentality and new politic, social and artistic ideals in the Romanian society.
