Summary

The topical interest of the theme is determined by the increase of the competition importance as regulation mechanism of the modern market relations, generated by: goods international exchange intensification, increasing role of transnational corporation, deepen of globalization and regionalization processes. This dissertation’s aim is to establish the real correlation between the changes in the competition character and the process of regional economic integration.

The paper provides a retrospective analyze of the classical and modern theories concerning the concept of competition. The author has formulated the competition modern peculiarities, such as: predominance of the quality competition among limited number of forms that create barriers to new entrants. It is analyzed the evolution of the functions, types and mechanism of the competition. In the same time, the dissertation provides the author’s researches about the competition peculiarities conditioned by the globalization, establishing the relation among globalization, competition and state policies. Concomitantly, the author studies the process of competition intensification generated by the regional integration, expressed by costs and price diminish, competitiveness and productivity increase, scale economy creation and research-development process acceleration. The competition policy is treated as basic institution regulating the competition environment. Finally, the author focuses on the competition environment of the Republic of Moldova, from the angle of accomplishment of the strategic aim of integration in the European Union.

The theoretical theses , methodological aspects and practical recommendations comprised by this paper, could be used in the elaboration of a strategy for competition environment improvement by the Republic of Moldova Ministry of Economy as well as during the university courses such as Economic theory, Economy of external relations, Competition and competitiveness under regional economic integration.
