The thesis is devoted to the development of scientific bases of the evaluation of seismic hazard and seismic risk in specific conditions of the Vrancea focal zone and the territory of Republic of Moldova. Different problems of current interest for the investigated territory are considered (seismic zoning and microzoning, estimation of seismic response and seismic risk) in order to ensure its seismic safety. At realization of researches, the complex of methods including instrumental recording of seismic events (earthquakes, special explosions, microtremors), research, theoretical modeling was applied.
For each of 2 seismogenic zones representing real danger for the territory of the Republic of Moldova (Vrancea and Predobrogea), the new value of parameters describing the seismic hazard: maximal magnitude Мwмах, b - factor Gutenberg-Richter and the and the recurence-magnitude relationship were estimated. The model of deep seismicity for Vrancea zone was elaborated. The seismic hazard of the territory of the Republic of Moldova based on the modern concepts was performed.
The basic parameters describing regional seismic actions were investigated: amplitude, duration and spectral content of seismic waves. The opportunity of using of instrumental seismological data for the estimation of earthquakes intensity in region was proved. The response spectra of Vrancea earthquakes were investigated and the new Design response spectra for Aseismic Code of Moldova Republic was developed. The regularities of formation of seismic effect on a daily surface were investigated and the methodology of seismic microzoning with reference to the territory of the Republic of Moldova was advanced.
The main factors determining the seismic risk in the Moldova's territory were revealed. The methodology of risk estimation at regional and local levels was elaborated.
The map of relative seismic risk distribution on the territory of the Republic of Moldova was performed for the first time. Various procedures for estimating the seismic risk at the local level allowing estimation of the possible damages of structures and human losses at the following strong earthquakes are proposed too.
The offered procedures are based on wide application of GIS- technologies.
The obtained main results were published in 4 monographies and 30 scientific papers.
