Summary

Thesis structure: contains an introduction, literature review, research materials and methods, 3 chapters with results, summary of obtained results, conclusions, practical recommendations. The bibliography includes 189 titles. The paper is illustrated by 52 tables, 14 figures, contains 9 annexes and it is exposed on 107 pages.

Field of the research: pediatrics, neonatology.

The purpose of the research: evaluation of maternal and placental risk factors, clinical and metabolic adaptation and health condition of a baby with IUGR in the first year of life and optimization of management of the patients.

The research objectives: to study factors of risk of IUGR; to predict features of clinical and metabolic adaptation of a SGA child in the neonatal period; evaluation of the physical and neurological peculiarities and morbidity of SGA child in the first year of life.

Scientific novelty and originality: For the first time in the local research, the role of potential socio-demographic, placental and maternal risk factors for IUGR has been studied, peculiarities of clinical and metabolic adaptation of a SGA child in the neonatal period have been revealed.

The scientific problem solved in the thesis. Risk factors for IUGR, specific for local population have been elucidated, which allows to delimitate risk cases and take appropriate preventive and curative measures at different stages of healthcare.

Theoretical significance of the thesis: New evidence was brought up regarding the contribution of risk factors in the ethiopathogenetic mechanism of IUGR. New scientific results have been accumulated the impact of tension and challenge in the adaptation processes on child health in the neonatal period. This study has deepened knowledge in evaluating different areas of neurological and physical development of the SGA child. For the first time a number of predictive factors has been proposed for retardation in development and for the installation of neurological morbidity in SGA children in the first year of life.

Practical value: It allowed to develop an algorithm SGA babies’ behaviour and a protocol of intrauterine growth retardation management.

Implementation of scientific results. The study results were implemented in practical activity of the newborns’ divisions of the PMSI MCI, of the Diagnostic and Supervision Center for neonates from risk groups within the premature babies departments of the Institute, being reflected in 5 acts of implementation and 3 certificates with copyright.
