Summary

Thesis structure: It contains 196 pages, introduction, six chapters, conclusions, 350 sources of bibliography, 2 tables 95 figures. Twenty-six scientific papers related to the topic of the thesis have been published so far. Keywords: Hormonal profile and predictive molecular markers for the development and therapy of pituitary adenomas.

Field of study:Pathology.

The aim of the work: The revision of the molecular factors that have a predictive and probably therapeutic role depending on the pituitary adenoma hormonal status. Objectives: Full assessment of pituitary adenomas by histopathological methods, hormonal profiling and immunohistochemical confirmation of the diagnosis by molecular methods.

Scientific innovation of the obtained results: A comparative study of hormonal profile and molecular markers of pituitary adenomas has been performed for the first time. The rate of the mixed pituitary adenoma cases of a rare combination was higher than the average one mentioned in specialized literature.

This confirms the presence of some etiopathogenic factors typical of the area from where the pituitary adenomas come. The role of pituitary hormone receptors and proliferation factors has been estimated and correlated for the first time. The new key results for science and practice: For the first time an analysis of the structure of pituitary adenomas depending on the geographical area was done; this would allow the recording of environmental factors involved in the etiology of these tumors.

Theoretical significance and applicative value of the work: The results regarding the cellular receptors stability will lead to the re-evaluation of diagnostic and treatment tactics in the neuro-therapeutic practice, indicating the mandatory need for an immunohistochemical study of pituitary adenomas. The complete diagnosis has a great prognostic and therapeutic impact streamlining the specific customized tumor therapy of pituitary adenomas. Practical implementation: The obtained results are implemented in the personalized treatment and used for determining the management and the prognostic factors in patients diagnosed with pituitary adenoma in neurosurgery and endocrinology.
