Summary

Research area: 321.18 – Orthopedics and traumatology.

Objectives. The aim of the paper is optimizing surgical treatment by evaluation of diagnostic methods, specifying treatment tactics and completing the recovery process of patients with distal femur fractures. Objectives of the paper: evaluation of frequency causes of occurrence, types and severity, with appreciation of indications, contraindications and approaches for osteosynthesis of different types of distal femur fractures. Analyzing the performance of minimally invasive surgical treatment techniques. Highlight cases of various complications and failures and elaboration of prophylactic-curative measures. Elaboration of an algorithm for diagnosis and treatment of distal femur fractures.

Novelty and scientific originality. The indications, contraindications and treatment methods for each patient with distal femur fracture were analyzed. The minimally invasive techniques in A and C fractures (AO) have been developed and implemented in practice.

Solved scientific problem. The stability of plate osteosynthesis in patients with distal femur fractures was optimized by assessing the indications for absolute or relative stability depending on the type of fracture.

Theoretical significance. The frequency, types and severity of distal femur fractures were analyzed. Indications and contraindications to different types of distal femur fractures were specified. The benefits of minimally invasive osteosynthesis of the distal femur have been argued. The practical and medical importance of the work. It was appreciated the restoration of the knee function on the same side based on international scales. Based on clinical, imaging and concomitant pathology data, the algorithm for differential diagnosis and treatment of patients with distal femur fractures was developed. The data obtained during our research have contributed to the development of a diagnostic and surgical differentiated treatment algorithm in the patient with distal femur fracture.

Implementation of scientific results. The main study results are applying in the didactic process of Orthopedics and Traumatology Department of the “Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in daily clinical practice of the Traumatology Departments of the Emergency Medicine Institute.
