Summary

Field of study:pediatrics, gastroenterology.

Purpose of the research. Assessment of suggestive age-related clinical criteria correlated with the serological and morphological examination for an early non-invasive diagnosis of celiac disease in children.

Objectives of the research:

  1. 1. To estimate the share of celiac disease in children in the Republic of Moldova and to determine the risk factors in the disease development.
  2. 2. To delimitate suggestive age-related clinical manifestations and to develop the algorithm of early diagnosis of Celiac disease.
  3. 3. To assess the serological level of transglutaminase antibodies and specific histological lesions for an effective management of diagnosis and monitoring of celiac disease.
  4. 4. To highlight the difficulties in compliance with the gluten free diet and to appreciate its role in the patients` quality of life.

Research methodology. The research included 2 types of studies: descriptive and case-control, conducted within the department of gastroenterology and hepatology PMSI Institute of Mother and Child, during 2012-2016.

Scientific novelty and originality. For the first time in the Republic of Moldova a scientific research aimed at determining the morbidity of celiac disease in children has been conducted, assessing the risk factors and suggestive age-related clinical particularities. Also, the most common difficulties in compliance with the gluten-free diet have been reported.

The resolved scientific problem consists in estimating age-related clinical manifestations suggestive of celiac disease to optimize early clinical diagnosis and early compliance with the gluten-free diet, which has important repercussions on the child's further development.

Theoretical significance and applicative value of the research work. The research results have a significant practical value, serving as a basis for high health care quality for children with celiac disease.

The implementation of scientific resultshas contributed to the recognition of early clinical manifestations and diagnosis.

Implementation of the scientific results, in the curative activity of specialists of the department of gastroenterology and hepatology, PMSI Institute of Mother and Child, with optimization of the process of early diagnosis of celiac disease in children. The elucidated data complement the National Clinical Protocol Celiac disease in children
