Summary

The thesis has the following structure: introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography from 306 titles, 11 annexes, 132 pages of basic text, 58 figures, 10 tables. The results are reflected in 15 scientific works, including 7 without coauthors. Keywords: human impact, regional anthropogenic impact assessment, environmental components, pollution, environmental factors, pollution sources, environmental protection, Northern Moldavan Plateau.

Field of study – 166.02 Environmental protection and rational usage of natural resources.

The purpose of the thesis is theoretically to substantiate the regional assessment of the anthropogenic impact for identifying and prioritizing the environmental problems of Northern Moldovan Plateau and determining the measures to solve them.

The objectives of the research: (1) research of methodological approaches in environmental impact assessment and theoretical substantiation a the regional level as an instrument of environmental policy; (2) assessment of the state of environmental factors and conducting a dynamic analysis of their quality, creating a database for Northern Moldovan Plateau; (3) the identification of particular areas of impact on the state of the environment and identifying areas with different ecological situation within Northern Moldovan Plateau; (4) formulation of approaches, identification of priority environmental problems and formulating measures for environmental protection and conservation for the territory of the Northern Moldovan Plateau. Scientific novelty. The formulation of the comprehensive approach to the assessment of anthropogenic impact and its dynamics on the state of the environment was carried aut having the case study the Northern Moldovan Plateau of the Republic of Moldova; the indicators characterizing the complex anthropogenic impact on the environment and its dynamics have been defined; maps presenting the distribution of anthropogenic impact on the environment have been designed as well as of areas with different ecological situation; on the basis of the study of the anthropogenic impact in the study area became possible optimizing identification and prioritization of main environmental problems and formulating comprehensive measures to protect and conserve the environment and its resources.

Solved scientific problemis to develop the concept and formulate a new systemic approach in assessing the anthropogenic impact on the environment at the level of a geographic region as an instruemnt of environmental policy, which facilitate identification and prioritization of main environmental problems and formulating measures for their resolution in the Northern Moldovan Plateau.

Theoretical significance: the substantiation of regional assessment of anthropogenic impact as an efficient tool of environmental policy, both by reviewing the methodological and methodological framework in the field of research, as well as by applying specific instruments for geographical researches, cartography and regionalization, Geographical Information Systems and, in particular, QGIS.

Practical value: the results obtained by the author can serve as support in: regionalization of the Northern Moldovan Plateau ecological situations and the identification of priority environmental measures; the preparation of national and regional reports on environmental quality, establishing the baseline of anthropogenic impact studies in the SEA study area of development documents; assessing the anthropic impact of regional development policies; the formulation of regional and local environmental action plans and the elaboration of concrete projects for the preservation and improvement of the state of the environment, as well as the socio-economic development strategy of the PMN districts.

At the same time, they can serve as a source material for the preparation of courses in pre-university and university education programs (on Environmental Geography; Physical Geography of the Republic of Moldova).

Implementation of the results. The theoretical and practical results obtained by the author were used for preparation of the „Environmental Protection” course for the first cycle, and for identification of investment priorities for Nothern Regional Development Agency, Activity Report of CIE AE Balti – 2014 and Ecological Inspection Yearbook of 2014; „Environmental Protection in Riscani District”.
