„The role of ovariectomy in the complex treatment of breast cancer”
Thesis for the scientific degree of MD
Chisinau, 2020
Thesis content: introduction, 4 chapters, synthesis of the obtained results, general conclusions
and practical recommendations, bibliography from 160 sources, 5 annexes, 119 pages of printed
text, 36 figures, 41 tables. The obtained results there were published in 19 scientific papers.
Key words: breast cancer, reproductive period, ovariectomy, complex treatment, luminal
subtype, relapse/metastasis, survival.
Study domain: Oncology and radiotherapy.
Study purpose: relapse and metastasis prevention in BC patients during reproductive and
perimenopausal period by complex treatment application, determining the comparative
effectiveness of surgical and chemical ovariectomy.
Study objectives:
the determination of ovariectomy indication according to hormonal status of malignant
tumors in BC patients;
ovariectomy role study in BC with metastasis prevention;
analysis of the laparoscopic surgical treatment advantages (ovariectomy) with
laparotomic one;
comparative assessment of the surgical ovariectomy results with chemical one;
survival assesment according to luminal subtype in BC patients;
the elaboration of behaviour alghorythm of LUM A and LUM B subtype of BC patients
Scientific news and originality: there were performed studies in order to prevent the relapse
and metastasis relapse in BC patients during reproductive period with ER+ and/or PR+ by
complex treatment using (surgical and chemical ovariectomy).
The solved scientific problem: it consists of the determinations of indications to ovariectomy
according to luminal subtype of the tumour, the determination of the ovariectomy role in order to
prevent the appearence of relapse and metastasis and survival of the advanced stages patients, the
establishment of advantages and disadvantages of different methods of complex treatment of BC
patients during the reproductive period, that contributed to the method consolidation of the
complex treatment of these neoplasias, allowed the increase of the survival rate of the BC
patients.
Theoretical importance: there were systematized the obtained results after the complex
treatment for the assessment of malignant process in the surgical and chemical ovariectomy so
preventing the LUM A și LUM B relapses and metastasis, contributing to the consolidation of
complex treatment of these neoplastias and permiting increase survival rate of the BC patients
during the reproductive period.
The applicative value of the study: there were elaborated the practical recommendations in the
behavior of oncologists for hormonal treatment improvement of BC patients, with elaboration of
behaviour alghorythm that makes is possible to customize the treatment tactics in early and
advanced stages.
The using of the scientific results: the study results there were used in ourdays practice of the
Breast Departments, Medical Oncology and Radiological Oncology and Consultative Diagnostic
Center (CDC) within PMSI Oncological Institute.
