Summary

Tourism represents an area of cultural knowledge and recreation, while for national economies it is a means of activization of economic processes and a source of income. The thesis is devoted to the analysis of tendencies in tourism development. General problems of cooperation influencing development of tourism are formulated. The author offers a systemic approach to research of tourism through development of mathematical models of the economy of tourism. The contribution of tourism to the development of national economies is significant. Tourism by its uniqueness promotes the solution of economic problems, including those accompanying it. In the work, the methodology of assessing indirect effects of tourist activity is offered. The analysis and estimation of problems related to tourist activity in Romania is made. The work provides arguments for definition of optimum decisions in the field of tourism, specific for Romania and a number of other countries; the analysis of dynamics of recent tourist activity in Romania is offered; the precondition of the development of some tourist zones of Romania is elucidated. A mathematical model of requirements to Romanian travel companies is developed. The necessity of creation of „Quality Audit of Tourist Services”, and the mechanism of maintenance of sustainable development of tourism in Romania is substantiated. Ways of developing tourism in Romania in cooperation with the European and global tourist market are offered; a review is made of the evolution of methods of solving problems related to tourism organization and activity in Romania as a component past of European tourism.

The thesis offers a new treatment and a thorough analysis of influence of tourism on economic development of the country. Support by official state structures of tourist activity in Romania is argumented. The technique of assessing the consequences of influence of the state on the development of the tourist branch is offered. The analysis of some problems related to tourist service is carried out; economic methods and mechanisms of their decision are offered.

The thesis has a strongly pronounced conceptual, methodological character, contains arguments in favour of development of tourism; it has practical value for experts, for travel companies and for development of positive image of Romania in the world; it contains a number of conclusions and recommendations for the development of tourism in Romania as a component part of European tourism.
