The participle is one of the most important elements of morphological system of linguistics, long ago it became the object of great attention for reseach workers because of its specific characteristics – it has both a verbal and an adjectival character. This research work is dedicated to the investigation of the participle. It investigates the participle in comparative aspect in contrast with the Russian and Romanian languages.
The subject of scientific research is very important and actual, it represents semantic – morphological and stylistic peculiarities of the participle in a comparative study of languages, where there are some similarities and differences in the syntagmatic plan.
The main (basic) difference is in a paradigmatic aspect: there are four special forms of the participile in Russian but it has only one form in Romanian. However the Romanian language has a plenty of correlates to denote special forms of the participle in Russian: there is the adjective, the noun, all kinds of constructions (as the participial one construction and the adjectival modifier); the subordinate atributive clauses, idiomatic expressions, the participles could be substuntivised and be adjectivised, it is so – called the process of conversion (as the act of changing it from one form or system to another). These equivalents are various according to their structure, to the morphological aspect, but also there are semantic and syntactic synonyms in the initial form. This situation is observed in different functional styles: in scientific, journalese, formal style and fiction.
All material is selected from bilingual dictionaries, periodicals as well as from Russian literature translated into Romanian language
