Summary

Thesis reflects the state and perspectives of horticulture development up to 2020. In accordance with elaborated program, it is envisaged to optimize the areas of fruit plantations, which will be stabilized at the level of 100 thou. ha, including 65.0 thou. ha –seed crops; 29.9 thou. ha – stone crops; 4.1 thou. ha – nut crops; 0.8 thou. ha – berry crops. Area of fruit plantations in fruitbearing age will amount up to 79 thou. ha in 2010 and up to 70.8 thou. ha in 2020. Due to realization of high genetic potential of fruit crops grown in the Republic, productivity will increase up to 9.8 tn/ha by the end of 2010 and up to 13.1 tn/ha by the end of 2020. Gross production will amount, respectively, to 776 and 924 tn/ha.

Implementation of program provisions on recovery and development of horticulture for the period of 2007-2020 requires significant financial resources in approximate amount of 677 mil. US Dollars to be used for the development of scientific and technical progress, production of virus-free planting material for fruit and berry crops, creation of fruit plantations of new type, modernization of equipment, improvement of fruit growing and processing technology, putting in order of normative and technical documentation, certification of products, etc.

Implementation of measures envisaged for horticulture recovery and development will promote the increase of economical efficiency of the branch. In 2010, Profits and profitability in branch will amount, respectively, to 186 mil. Lei and 26% in 2010 and 784 mil. Lei and 55% in 2020.
