Summary

The correction of the maxillary-dental anomalies is a vital problem in the orthodontics due to the increase of the frequency of the pathologies, imperfection of the traditional treatment methods, use of the new orthodontic materials and technologies that need the profound clinical – experimental study.

The aim of this paper was development of the new method of the orthodontic treatment with the use of the permanent samarium – cobaltic magnets for the treatment of the diastems, the protrusion of the foreteeth of the upper jaw and the constriction of the upper jaw.

The new orthodontic apparatuses were designed to treat the protrusion of the foreteeth of the upper jaw (Author’s Certificate on Invention No. 1734 dated September 30, 2001) and the anomalies of the dental arches of the upper jaw in the transversal direction (Author’s Certificate on Invention No. 1735 dated September 30, 2001). To evaluate the efficiency of the apparatuses designed, the experimental research on the rabbits with the study of morphological substrate of the tissues of the maxillary-dental system in the dynamics (3, 9, 21 and 28 days). It was established that using the permanent samarium – cobaltic magnets, the transient changes appear in the mucous membrane, in the parodentium and the bone of the alveolar process, which are of temporary character and they disappear completely when the treatment finishes.

94 patients of the age from 7 to 18 years old were subject to the clinical study of the efficiency of the treatment of the diastems, the protrusion of the foreteeth of the upper jaw and the constriction of the upper jaw. The examination of the patients was carried out using the clinical and paraclinical (orthopantomography, cephalometry, plaster models, etc.) methods. The treatment efficiency when using the apparatuses designed was evaluated in each type of the pathology in comparison with the traditional methods.

The obtained results showed the advantage of the proposed new method of treatment due to the permanent effect of the force of decrescent capacity, lack of the necessary corrections, reduction of the treatment term in 1,4 – 3,7 times, improvement of the quality of the patient’s life and the favorable outcome while studying the remote consequences.
