Summary

The thesis for the Doctor’s degree in biology, Chisinau, 2016. Introduction, four chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography 162 tiles, 140 pages, 11 annexes, 15 figures, 41 tables. The obtained results have been published in 30 scientific papers.

Field of research: 166.01 – Ecology.

The aims of research: to estimate the ecological situation in the town of Tiraspol through the determination of pollution sources and ways of pollutants migration: the sourcethe atmosphere – sedimentation – surface flow – accumulation in soil – migration in plants – accumulation in plants tissue – influence on men’s health.

Purposes of research: to identify the main sources of environment pollution through inventorying the industrial enterprises within the limits of Tirapol; the list of the pollutants emitted by them in the atmosphere; the places of dust accumulation in the region; the amount of dust sedimentation in a definite period of time; chemical compostion of sediments and their impact on the surface water quality; amount of radionuclides; dynamics of population health; measures to be taken in order to improwe the ecological situation in the region.

Scientific newness and originality: The investigation has been carried out on the basis of the basis ot the principle of continuity: from spreading of substances through air to their sedimentation. Their presence was found in the chemical composition surface waters. It was proved that pollutant sediments accumulate in soil and participate in the process of soil quality formation. These substances were found in the morphological components of plants growing in the town.

The scientific problem was to determine the impact of the town economical infrastructure upon the ecological situation of the environment. The pollutants come into contact with any component of the natural spheres and influence the quality of the environment.

Theoretical significance: the investigation makes evident the links between the natural spheres, which are characterized not only as receptors of pollutants but also as media for their transformation, sometimes – in harmful substances. It has been proved that natural spheres are media for pollutants migration and their presence in these spheres leads to the environment quality reduction and have a negative influence on the population health.The results of investigation prove that it is necessary to maintain optimal conditions in all geographical spheres in order to maintain an ecological equilibrium them.

The applicaice value of the research: the obtained results can contribute to the correct territorial distribution of industry in a town. Under actual conditions of economical reformation it is important to be aware of the ecological impact of each type of enterprise on the environment.

Implementation of results: the obtained results were used by the Tiraspol Nature Protection Departament to elaborate the “Programme of ecological situation improvement in Tiraspol” including “Moldavizolit”.
