The dissertation is dedicated to the establishing of the theoretical basis of the communication process in management and the introduction of a way of improving this process by means of the information system. In the market economy environment that consolidates the predominance of communication and of the information technology, the Romanian firms are confronted with the tremendous challenge represented by the change of the communication and information paradigm.
The paper analyzes the theoretical concept of communication in management, pointing out the role, the importance and the place of communication in the manager’s activity, the basic rules, the typology, the elements, the levels and the styles of communication, as well as the main concepts related to the ethics of managerial communication.
The research object of this paper is the National Brown Coal Company Petrosani, which is of strategic importance for the national economy, and which was analyzed from the point of view of its hierarchic communication model and the communication problems it may be confronted with when change is implemented. The paper elaborates and implements a questionnaire that diagnoses the communication and information system problems within the company.
In order to improve the communication process at the National Brown Coal Company Petrosani, its information system is analyzed and the implementation of the databases distributed within the present information system is proposed.
The theoretical argumentations and the applicative proposals regarding the concepts of
communication and the use of new database structures presented in the paper can be used both in the
company under study and in other firms that are confronted with communication and information
