Summary

The work is subdivided classically: introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions and practical recommendations, bibliography of 118 references, 122 pages of the main text, including 37 figures, 23 tables and 8 formulas. The study findings were published in 14 scientific papers.

Domain of study: 323.01 - Stomatology.

Purpose and objectives: assessment of clinical features of the wedge-shaped defect depending on age, sex, personal and oral hygiene and concurrent pathologies, monitoring of indices of developed survey questionnaire, proposed to patients with wedge-shaped defects in order to facilitate the correct tactics of treatment, development of general and local directed therapeutic techniques and preventive measures, clinical protocol development of rational therapeutic treatment of wedge-shaped defect.

Scientific novelty and originality: research has allowed determining for the first time in the Republic of Moldova some features of etiologic and pathogenic factors of wedge-shaped defects. Complex methods of research have been described and implemented, that gave possibility of an exact differential diagnosis. For the first time in the country, a comprehensive and directed treatment algorithm has been developed and implemented of various forms of wedge-shaped lesions.

Scientific problem solved in the thesis: consists of the scientific substantiation of the role played by abfraction in the development of wedge-shaped defects, based on the results of multiple studies from worldwide scientific references, and confirmed by the results fo our survey, employed in our study, which led to developing and implementing an algorithm of complex and directed treatment, that has diminished significantly the complication rate.

Theoretical significance: occlusal overloading, which is due to the occurrence of wedge-shaped defect, has an incidence on the rise due to increasing frequency of pathologies of oro-maxillo-facial region and system. This motivation made it necessary to develop an algorithm for comprehensive and rational treatment.

Applicable value of work: it consists in providing dentists of an algorithm for diagnosis and treatment allowing differentiating studied pathology from other diseases, to restore tooth crown, to rehabilitate occlusal plane and treat dental pathologies encountered simultaneously with wedge-shaped lesions.

Implementation of scientific results: Fundamental elements of research were introduced in didactic and clinical training of doctors and resident doctors in Therapeutic Dentistry Clinic of the Department of Therapeutic Dentistry and were implemented in the.
