Summary

The thesis consists of introduction, 4 chapters, conclusions and recommendations, Bibliography of 170 titles, 113 pages of basic text, 13 tables, 52 figures, 5 annexes. The results have been published in 8 scientific papers.

Field of study - 153.05 - Meteorology, Climatology, Agrometeorology.

The purpose of the work: to underline agrometeorological conditions’ influence over sunflower productivity on Republic of Moldova’s territory in the context of climate change.

Research objectives: the analysis and assess of spatio-temporal dynamics of heat and moisture resources in the context of growth and development sunflower; highlighting the specific regional development of the sunflower’s manifestation phases; identification and quantitative definition of water stress in sunflower productivity’s forming, applying standartized indexes; the monitoring of the intensity and frequency of droughts and their influence on sunflower harvest through standardized indices; assessment of climate variability of sunflower crop productivity.

Research methodology is the theoretical concepts that allow assessment of the agro-meteorological conditions and nominates new complex indices proposed by WMO to assess the severity of droughts (SPI SPEI) and the developed index at regional level (Izu) that characterize the growing period of the sunflower from May to August.

Scientific novelty and originality: highlighted trends show space-temporary phenological phases of sunflower; assesses thermal and hydro resources recorded in ontogenetic stages of development; it was determined the impact of drought on sunflower productivity value; it was estimated the climate variability of sunflower productivity.

Important resolved scientific problem is to estimate agrometeorological conditions influence on sunflower productivity; to underline climatic changes impact on crops’ variability; to define roles of stress agrometeorological factors using various climatic indexes.

Theoretical value. The agro-climatic conditions were evaluated in the Republic of Moldova in the period of sunflower growth and rise in the current climate change. It was estimated the impact of drought on productivity of this crop. It was calculated the climate variability of harvest and were brought arguments on the optimal territorial location of the given crop.

Applied value of work. Some of the achievements are used in institutions of higher education teaching the specialized courses and in agricultural practice when the field work taking into account the new climate conditions.

The implementation of scientific results in the specialized scientific institutions, are confirmed by 5 certificates of implementation within the State Commission for Сrops Variety Тesting of Republic of Moldova.
