Field of research: Specialty 521.01 - Economic theory and economic policies.

The purpose and objectives of the thesis. The aim of the research is to analyze the process of assuring sustainable economic security by examining institutions, various models of analysis, the variables and to develope recommendations on the basis of an econometric model for assuring sustainable economic security of the Republic of Moldova in the European integration process. In order to achieve this goal, the following objectives have been established: the classification and systematization of theoretical approaches concerning economic security, identification of the most important threats and finding the most effective mechanisms for their mitigation; critical interpretation of the influence of regional integration phenomenon on the economic security of the developing countries; in order to extract the essence, structure and main elements of sustainable economic security; research the various models for the analysis of national economic security (the "Threshold indicators" model, the model of L. Briguglio) for similar states with the Republic of Moldova, but already integrated in the EU (example of: Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania); presenting the impact of the economic diplomacy of the Republic of Moldova on the process of assuring sustainable economic security.

Scientific novelty and originality of obtained results consist in the development of the theoretical-scientific analysis and correlation of security assuring process through the use of economic diplomacy instruments; risk factors identification (threats) in the address of the sustainable economic security of the Republic of Moldova; making a comparative analysis of the economic security level of the Baltic States and of the Republic of Moldova; applying an econometric model, which should highlight the most important factors that influence sustainable economic security of the Republic of Moldova; providing practical recommendations for strengthening sustainable economic security of the Republic of Moldova (mentioning the following instruments: legislative, EU-Moldova Association Agreement, economic diplomacy).

Important scientific issue resolved in the field investigated is to develop a model composed of indicators for evaluating sustainable economic security of RM. Recommendations proposed will contribute to the acceleration of the process of European integration as an essential and indispensable tool for strengthening sustainable economic security of Moldova. The theoretical importance and the applicative value of the thesis represents the elaboration of theoretical and practical recommendations concerning improving the level of sustainable economic security of the Republic of Moldova in the European integration.

Implementation of scientific results: the results of the research have been and are in the process of implementation by EU's High Level Adviser for Moldova-Aldona JOCIENE and the think-tank “Institute for Advanced Economic Development Initiatives (IDEA).
