Field of study: Medicine Aim of study consists in assessing the health status of medical students in a multidimensional aspect (physical, mental, social) during their study years, for the elaboration of prophylactic, maintenance and health promotion measures.

Objectives of the research: the assessment of the physical health status based on the standard clinical examination of the first year students and of the same group of students in the fifth year of studies; the assessment of mental health by self-reporting in the first and then fifth years of studies respectively; estimation of socio-demographic parameters for the studied groups as a component of the health status of the youth; determination of health status and quality of life of future doctors by means of self-reporting; comparative analysis of the student youth's health parameters, elaboration of recommendations for maintaining and promoting health among medical students.

The novelty and the scientifical originality: this research has conducted a multidimensional assessment of the youth health based on the cohort of future doctors; elucidating in this way the peculiarities of the objective and self-perceived physical and mental health. For the first time, a scientifical study analyses the dynamic of student's health, from the first to the fifth years of studies, detecting the spectrum of diseases and their frequency among the young students during their study years. The confrontation of the objective and subjective data obtained in the research has made it possible to identify the pathologies that require the conduct's optimatization and the drawing up of the preventive measures in order to minimize the influence of the academic environment on the health of the future doctors. The originality of the research is assured by the complex use of a series of methodological approaches in assessing the health status of the medical students.

The solution of the scientifical problem: the estimation of the impact of different aspects of students health, for early prophylaxis interventions and preventive treatment in the detection of existing diseases and the elaboration of measures for institutional changes in order to promote health of the young students.

The theoretical significance of the study: the results achieved allowed the consolidation of the concept of multidimensional assessment of youth's health status, seemingly healthy, through a prophylactic examination during the training period.

The value of implimentation of research. The results of the research were used to develop screening measures for early detection of premorbid and morbid conditions, which allowed the reduction of cases of exacerbations of the existing pathologies and the improvement of students’quality of life.

Implementation of the results. The results of the study were approved as a scientific value and were implemented in the activity of the students/residents Health Department of the the University Clinic of Primary Health Care of the "Nicolae Testemiţanu" State University of Medicine and Pharmacy: the psychological service was organized to provide specialized assistance to young people in solving emotional, social, behavioral problems; a dietetic nutrition program was implemented in the university canteens taking into consideration student's disease.
