Field of the research: hygiene, occupational health

The purpose of the research: studying the influence of environmental and behavioral factors on the capacity of physical activity and health of junior athletes practicing ball games and arguing a complex of appropriate prophylactic measures. Objectives of the study: (1) Assessment of the health status particularities among junior athletes; (2) Hygienic assessment of the conditions and training process among junior athletes; (3) Lifestyle assessment and identification of the behavioral risk factors influencing junior athlete’s health; (4) Assessment of the conditions and training process on the functional status and work capacity of junior athletes; (5) Identification of the specific features influencing sports activities on the health and level of adaptation of junior athletes. Scientific novelty and originality: For the first time, a complex study was performed on the health of junior athletes in relation to the determining factors, conducted according to the principles of environmental medicine and occupational medicine which highlighted the pathological conditions, noncommunicable diseases and trauma characteristic of this category of population dependent on the degree of influence of unfavorable factors, adaptation to them, sports performance. The hygienic model was developed for predicting possible changes in health, proposed recommendations for optimizing the monitoring of athletes' health and preventing premorbid conditions.

A significant applied scientific problem solved in the research: scientific and methodological substantiation of the connection between the determining factors and the health status of junior athletes, which contributes to the development of recommendations and practical proposals for the development of a quality service of sports medicine in the Republic of Moldova. This will allow the improvement of the risk management system in the activity of junior athletes and the validation of a relevant model for the efficiency of public health surveillance in order to diagnose unfavorable functional changes and premorbid conditions.

The theoretical relevance and practical value: the results of the research carried out supplement the scientific chapters on health and risk factors at junior athletes and will be used in the activity of specialists in sports medicine and public health. They were the basis for the elaboration of the monitoring system of the health condition of junior athletes and the concept of development of sports medicine in the Republic of Moldova.

Implementation of the results: The research results were used to develop the hygienic model for monitoring the health of junior athletes, focusing on the screening program for premorbid conditions, improving the health care system of athletes and arguing prophylactic measures to reduce risk factors.
