Summary

The adhesion of Romania at EU involves essential mutations both in the management of the touristic industry and in the level of the institutions involved in this economic field . The essence of these changes consists in the efficiency of the activity , being necessary a new type of organization, management and control based on modern management principles and mechanisms adjusted to the new economic realities and in concordance with the EU standards.

The integration of the Romanian tourism in EU supposes the efficiency of the economic activity in full concordance with the social and natural environment. The tourism has the chance to develop free without being forced by the limits required by the united decision factors as if in the case of agriculture and industry. The only restriction with be determined by the competitiveness of Romania as destination on the international market . The low competitiveness of the Romanian tourism in analogy with that of the other countries EU members, even that of those recently entered, may be improved by the adoption of a strategy which must establish very clear witch are the priorities towards which between 2007-2013 the financial resources earmarked by EU or by the state budget.

Having as purpose to achieve the proposed objectives, in this paper it was analyzed for comparison the actual state of the Romanian tourism and that of the other countries EU members resulting a series of similitudes but also important differences.

Having as base the investigation made it was established as priority the development of the tourism in the mountain area, taking in consideration that its resources and its understructure may contribute to set Romania as an important touristic destination on the europeean market. At the same time it was also investigated the role of state in the promotion of the romanian tourism and in the establishment of a mark strategy.

The main used instrument in the investigation was the statistical research.

The result of the researches has conceptual, methodological and operative aspect and it can have application in the development of the new strategy of development of the Romanian tourism
