Summary

The thesis consists of introduction, four chapters, conclusions and practical recommendations; a bibliography of 151 sources, 1 annex, and 95 pages of basic text includes 21 tables and 25 figures. The results are published in 18 scientific papers.

Field of study: 02.00.10 - bioorganic chemistry, chemistry of natural and physiologically active compounds.

The aim and objectives: the development of a rational method for obtaining of glycosides from Veronica chamaedrys L. plants, determination of the chemical structure for each of these compounds and certain aspects of their biological activity.

The scientific novelty and originality: a new vegetal source of steroid and phenolic glycosides was identified; for the first time from Veronica chamaedrys L. plants 14 steroidal glycosides (chamaedrosides) were isolated and identified, 11 of which are new; the new rational method for the isolation of steroidal furostanic glycosides was developed, for the first time 4 phenolic glycosides were isolated and identified in Veronica chamaedrys L. plants, a glycoside of which is a new substance, not described previously in the literature.

The scientific solved problem consists in the widening of arsenal of the new biologically active substances and recommending their application in practical purposes.

Theoretical significance: new biologically active substances not previously described in the literature were obtained, that are important for fundamental and applied research.

The applicative value of the work and implementation of the scientific results: treatment of Lactuca sativa seeds of a long-term storage with solution of steroidal glycosides Veronica chamaedrys L. before sowing improves their germination and germination energy and further contributes to a more vigorous growth and development of plants that allows to recommend for use of these compounds in the selection; the steroidal glycosides adding nutrient medium for pollen germination of sweet pepper grown significantly increased the percentage of germinated pollen and pollen tube length, the important thing for breeding and genetic research; steroidal glycosides of furostan series can be used as immunomodulators, which increase resistance of wheat to shock by the fungus Fusarium oxysporum Schlecht., which can be applied in agricultural production; treatment of medicinal plant Sylibum marianum (Gaertn.) L. seeds with solutions of phenolic glycosides from Veronica chamaedrys L. before sowing leads to an increase in its seed productivity, and can be used in the production of seeds of medicinal plants. Some results are implemented in scientific research activities of laboratories "Botanical immunogenetics" and "Natural bioregulators" of the Institute of Genetics and Plant Physiology ASM, section "Environmental selection" of the All-Russia Research Institute of selection and seed growing of vegetable crops (VNIISSOK, Moscow).
