Summary

Field of research: general psychology.

The aim of the research: consists of the determination of psychological particularities of children’s personality with chronic respiratory diseasesand the creation of a supportive psychological schedule, oriented at the decrease of negative influences of chronic respiratory diseases on children’s personality.

To accomplish the aim, several objectives were achieved: the study of personality changes in situations of chronic diseases, especially chronic respiratory diseases; establishing specific peculiarities of a personality, self-esteem and social preferences of children with different chronic respiratory diseases; establishing features ofparent-child relationships in children with chronic respiratory diseases; determining the relationship between personality traits of children with chronic respiratory diseases and family education styles; designing and promoting measures to harmonize the process of personality development in a situation of chronic respiratory diseases.

Novelty and scientific originality. It is one of the first experimental and theoretical studies in general psychology, which establishes the psychological peculiarities of a child’s personality, sick with chronic respiratory diseases; determines the personality profile of a sick child with various chronic respiratory diseases; establishes specific differences between the sick child psychological peculiarities compared to the healthy one; elucidates differences in the manifestation of cognitiveemotional reactions in sick children and in healthy children; establishes social functionality peculiarities and changes in the sphere of values, orientations and attitudes with respiratory chronic diseases; The relationship between the disease and the type of parent’s style of education.

The researched scientific problem. Here are established the psychological peculiarities of children’s personality with chronic respiratory diseases, serving as the basis of the program for psychological support, diminishing negative influences of chronic respiratory diseases and the harmonization process of forming a child's personality.

The theoretical significance is dictated by the interdisciplinary of the research where the main field of research includes theoretical and applicative valences of personality development: a comprehensive approach to the concept of chronic diseases in clinical psychology, medical psychology, general psychology, personality psychology; psychic and somatic changes induced by chronic diseases; psychological changes caused by somatic states in children; specific development and social integration in case of chronic diseases in children; parental attitudes and approaches to their development within the family that educates children with chronic respiratory diseases, a influence the sickness exerts on thechild’s learning style in his family.

The applicative value of the research is to develop a personality profile of a child with chronic respiratory diseases, and the evolvement, approval and implementation of a supportive psychological schedule, oriented at the decrease of negative influences of chronic respiratory diseases on the development of a children’s personality.

The implementation of the scientific results. The results have been applied in the counselling of children with chronic respiratory diseases and their families undergoing treatment in hospital wards, pulmonology, allergy, phtiziopneumologyandand phtiziology within the town Chisinau; teaching courses in general psychology, psychology of age and continuing education courses for teachers of the State University of Moldova.
