Summary

Field of study: Medicine.

The aim of the study: Activity estimation of the family doctor in health promotion and disease prevention in the Republic of Moldova, scientific argumentation and developing a model of management in the field.

Objectives of research: Estimation of the legislative, regulatory and methodical existing framework on health promotion and disease prevention in primary care from Moldova; assessing the spread of the main factors of risk behavior impacting the health of the population; determining the knowledge, skills and aptitudes of hygienic and family doctors and of patient in promoting healthy lifestyles and disease prevention; evaluation of the managerial issues in the field of health promotion and disease prevention in new socioeconomic conditions; scientific argumentation of a model on health promotion and disease prevention in primary care service.

Scientific novelty and originality: The results of this study will be the first opening of determination in complex of hygiene knowledge, skills and abilities of the family doctor in disease prevention and promoting healthy lifestyles. It was argued and developed a model of disease prevention and health promotion in primary care. Scientific problem solved consists in scientific argumentation and elaboration of the optimal model of activity for primary health care (PHC), establishing a real workload (prescribed for the family doctor and nurses), in the field of prevention of diseases and health promotion, and developing of corrective measures.

Theoretical and practical significance: The study allowed to establish an original research methodology in this field that can be used in other investigations on disease prevention and health promotion. Theoretical important principles were highlighted for primary care on disease prevention and health promotion. Results of the study can complement the theoretical foundations of the problem and training programs for physicians, nurses and family health education programs for the population. Rationale and design a model of disease prevention and health promotion in primary care service can serve as a basis for issuing a set of legal directives, normative and methodological acts by the Ministry of Health in this field. Research results, conclusions and recommendations can serve both for practical planning of family teams, physicians in disease prevention and health promotion, as well as to optimize these activities.

Implementation of scientific results: The research results will be use to compile practical guidelines on disease prevention and health promotion in primary care in Moldova and were implemented in 7 institutions: Ministry of Health, Medical University "Nicolae Testemiţanu", NCME, NCPH, PHC of Causeni district, Municipal PHC, Society of family doctors.
