Summary

PhD thesis in communication sciences at the specialty 571. 01 - Journalism and media processes. Chisinau, 2018.

Thesis structure: introduction, 3 chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography of 218 titles, 148 pages of main text, 12 tables and 9 annexes. Obtained results are published in 14 scientific papers.

Field of study: Communication Sciences.

The aim of the paper: investigation of the art journalism in the Republic of Moldova, its framework, the functions and the peculiarities of the content that the informational circuit puts in both the printed generalist press and the one specialized on culture.

Objectives: analysis of the role, place and functions of art journalism in the printed press; research the framework of manifestation of the cultural media productsin different media outlets; exploration of contents and forms of expression in the domestic media products.

Scientific novelty consists in elucidating the identity of art journalism in the contemporary media context, in identifying the place and the role that it has in the local printed press, in examining the specificity of functions, contents and forms of expression of the cultural products in the generalist and specialized periodical publications.

Important scientific problem solved consists in elucidation of the particularities of art journalism; clarification of its place and role in the editorial approaches of different types of domestic local periodicals. It also resides in description of the functions it performs in the process of reflecting the cultural reality, as well as in demonstrating the individuality of the contents of the art journalism products.

The theoretical significance of the thesis lies in creating a theoretical framework for analyzing art journalism from the conceptual, structural and functional perspectives.

Value of the work consists of research findings on art journalism products from the generalist and specialized media that may assist the generalist publications to correct their editorial policy so as to redefine the role and the place of art journalism in their contents. The findings also may assist the specialized media to reshape its editorial approach, in order to direct it towards the interpretative evaluative dimension.

Implementation of scientific results: Scientific results have been implemented through the publication of 14 articles and studies and contributions to national and international conferences. 8
