Summary

Thesis structure: introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions, recommendations, bibliography (174), annexes (12), main text (152 pages), tables (44), figures (16) and formulas (22). The obtained results of the research have been published in 13 scientific works (4,3 author’s sheets), among which papers in peer-reviewed journals in the field, collections of papers and reports at scientific meetings, both national and international.

Field of study: general management, leadership styles.

The purpose of the reserach was to analyse the level of the emotional intelligence of managers on the base of a native methodology and to determine the inter-dependence between the levels of the emotional intelligence of managers and the efficiency of their activities. Objectives of the reserach were the following: to study the conceptual framework of emotional intelligence; to analyze teoretical-methodological approaches in the intestigations of emotional intelligence; to specify porinciples, directions and important contributions of the shaping of emotional intelligence of managers; finding the correct work place – the logical framework for the efforts in improving competences related to the emotional intelligence; to study the behavior of managers in organizations, in their relationships within the organization and outside it, with the view of assuring the highest possible efficiency of their activities, reflected through the correlations of the current managerial style; to specify the theoretical aspects of the efficient management and an opportunity to commensurate them via the implementations for their managerial roles; to specify the most important managerial tools of the assessment of managerial and economic activities; finding specific features of the efficiency and effectiveness of the management in general and at the levels of its main components – methodology, decision-making, information handling, and organizational mode; empirical assessment of the inter-relationships of the level of the emotional intelligence of a manager and the efficiency of his/her activities; to draw conclusions and formulate recommendations of the base of the results of the investigations.

The novelty and scientific originality of the investgation concern the followin: clarification of the conceptual and applicative features of the emotional intelligence of managers, the methods, principles and tolls for the assessment of the level of emotional intelligence; implementation of a complex application of the performed analysis of emotional intelligence – the area insufficiently appreciated in the thery and practice of managerial activities in the Republic of Moldova; the first-time analysis of the inter-relashioships between the level of the emeotional intelligence of a manager and the efficiency of his/her activities – on the base of empirical activities; specification of the inter-relationship of the emotional intelligence and the managerial style of managers; development of a methodological framework for the determination of the impact of emeotional intelligence on the efficiency of managerial activities.

An important scientific problem solved in the thesis consists in presenting both theoretical and practical arguments in support of the significance of emotional intelligence of managers, irrespective of its level, in the enhancement of efficiency of their activites and of the work of the organization as a whole.

The theoretical significance of the thesis (of the work) consists in the contribution offered for the clarification and specification of the basic theoretical notions of the theory of emotional intelligence, of the efficiency of managerial activities. In addition, theoretical importance is demonstrated with the determination of the theoretical basis and of the methodological aspects of the identification of emotional intelligence related to the introduction of a certain managerial behavior; formulation of criteria for the assessment of the level of emotional intelligence of managers; specification of the methods and criteria of the assessment of managerial activities.

The applicative value of the investigation (of the work) is evident in the results of the study that can be the base for further research and analyses, more detailed, concerning the characteristics necessary for a manager who wants to successfully implement his/her roles, to make the work of the whole organization more efficient. In addition, for the first time in economic science, in particular, in management domain, an empirical investigation was carried out aimed at the establishment of the inter-relationship of the managerial style and emotional intelligence of a manager, and of the level of emotional activity of a manager and his/her activities. Therefore, the conducted investigations assist in the development of the theory of the management personality, adding to it such an element as emotional intelligence.

The implementation of scientific results of the investigations can be supported by the activities of the adoption and acceptance of the significance and scientific-practical novelty. Recommendation and conclusions from the research can be assessed by educational and research institutions, economic entities, consulting companies.
