Domain of study: psychology of personality and regulatory processes.

The purpose o f this study is to identify the particularit ies of the relat ionship between the fundamental dimensions of the personalit y, the motivat ional persistence and self-st igma in seropositive people and to develop a psychological support program aimed at overcoming selfstigma in seroposit ive people.

The main objectives of the current research: to analyze the theoretical aspects of the literature with reference to motivat ional persistence, self-st igma and the predict ive factors of self-st igma in seropositive people; to establish the extent to which seroposit ive people in the Republic of Moldova are affected by the phenomenon of self-stigma and the degree of influence of the fundamental dimensions of the personalit y, as predict ive factors in the development of self-stigma; to elaborate and implement a psychological support program aimed to reduce selfstigma in seroposit ive people and to establish its efficiency; to elaborate and propose recommendations for overcoming self-stigma in seropositive people.

Novelty and scientific originality. This is the first theoretical-empirical study, conducted on a national level, that looked at the psychological particularit ies of the seroposit ive people, specifically, the motivational persistence and self-stigma; it was established the level of manifestation of motivat ional persistence and self-st igma in relat ion to the fundamental dimensions of the personalit y of seroposit ive people; it was developed the psychological profile of seropositive people prone to a high level of self-stigma; it was elaborated and validated a psychological support program aimed to reduce self-stigma at seropositive people.

The solved scientific problem through this research consists in determinat ion of the relationship between motivational persistence and self-stigma in seropositive people, conceptualization of the psychological profile of seropositive people prone to self-stigma which has led to the elaboration and implementation of a program aimed at diminishing the self-st igma at seropositive people.

The theoretical significance is determined by the complet ion of some theoretical visions regarding the motivational persistence, the causality and the repercussions of self-stigma at seropositive people.

The applicative value of the thesis resides in the possibility of applying the psychodiagnostic methodology proposed in the research and the complex psychological support program in the act ivit y of clinical psychologists, counselors and practit ioners. The psychological support program can be included in the theoretical and practical training program conducted within specialized institutions as the basis of a methodological guide for the psychological rehabilitation and the diminution of self-stigma in seropositive people.

Implementation of the scientific results was achieved through the counseling and psychosocial rehabilitation of seropositive people, the beneficiaries of the Regional Social Center "Renaşterea" in Chisinau; through the teaching of General Psychology and Health psychology courses and the cont inuous training of the professors from the State Universit y of Moldova, through scientific communicat ions held both on a nat ional and international level.
