Field of study: food security management The aim of the paper: represents the substantiation of the modern concept of food security in terms of sustainable development and the development of a set of recommendations on food security management in the Republic of Moldova. Research objectives: delimiting the conceptual aspects of the scientific determinants "sustainable development - economic security - food security"; determining the concordance between food security criteria, factors and principles and sustainable development; analysis of the international normative and institutional framework on food security management in order to take over good practices; identification and systematization of instruments for measuring food security in correlation with sustainable development indicators; diagnosing national food security through the four pillars: availability, access, use and stability; mapping national food security; calculation of the comprehensive food security index in the Republic of Moldova; elaboration of recommendations on the strategic management of food security of the Republic of Moldova in the context of sustainable development. The novelty and scientific originality of the paper results from the fact that the analysis of food security management is researched for the first time in the Republic of Moldova which combined a series of tools that highlighted the main theoretical foundations of food security management and its specific features in the Republic of Moldova by distinguishing the existing risks and weaknesses, as well as determining the ways to eliminate them based on the recommendations made. The main new results obtained that led to the creation of a new scientific direction are: submitted for support are: the development of the modern concept of food security in the context of sustainable development; study on international experience regarding the management of food security in order to take over good practices; analysis of international experience in food security management; food safety assessment instruments; study on national food security based on four basic pillars (availability, access, use and stability); calculation of the self-supply level indicator in the Republic of Moldova (in a new formula); calculating the degree of food self-sufficiency in the Republic of Moldova in the light of the minimum consumption norms approved by the Government of the Republic of Moldova and in the light of the norms recommended by the WHO for a decent living; identification of the food security management architecture in the Republic of Moldova; national food security atlas; calculation of the integral food security index of the Republic of Moldova based on the minimum consumption norms and based on the norms recommended by WHO for a decent living; visions regarding the strategic directions for improving the food security management in the Republic of Moldova based on the developed food security circuit. These principally new results for science have led to the solution of the important scientific problem, which consists substantiate the theoretical and methodological landmarks of food security, which will lead to the development of the national model of food security management in the context of sustainable development they have led to the development of the scientific direction of us, which deals with the management to ensure the country's food security in the context of sustainable development, through the establishment of the independence between the instrument to measure to ensure food security with the sustainable development indicators, the calculation of the index for the whole of the food safety and mapping of food security. The theoretical significance of the research lies in the specificity of the theoretical and methodological basis of the combination of modalities, methods and mechanisms for assessing the level of food security of the Republic of Moldova and its influence on both endogenous and exogenous risks. The theoretical significance is determined by a modern structure related to the trilogy: economic security – food security – sustainable development, diversifying the approach to food security indicators, implementing modern tools to analyze food security and developing strategic fundamentals. The applicative value of the paper lies in the fact that the recommendations proposed by the author can be implemented both at the macroeconomic level of the country by the responsible authorities, such as the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, MSPF, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), and at regional level – North Regional Development Agencies (NRDAs). Implementation of scientific results. The recommendations proposed by the author within the research topic are confirmed by Implementation Certificates issued by the North Regional Development Agency (North RDA), the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture (AIPA), the National Federation of Farmers (FNF).
