Summary

Structure of the thesis: introduction, 3 chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography, appendices, 125 pages of basic text, 27 figures, 16 tables. The obtained results are published in 9 scientific papers.

Field of study: Economics and Management in the branch. (Management of the religious cultural tourism).

Goals and objectives: The goal of this thesis: complex study of religious cultural tourism impact on the population and outline of the directions in the development of religious cultural tourism. Outline of the frustrating aspects and identification of the causes that determined the shaping of this form of tourism and improvement of the activity of specialized travel agencies.

In accordance with the set-up goal, the following objectives are outlined:
-determination of inter-dependencies between religious cultural tourism and other forms of tourism; presentation of defining elements and conditions promoting the increase of religious cultural tourism; clarification of the effects of religious cultural travels both on the travel agencies and on the religious cultural institutions; SWAT analysis on the religious cultural tourism at the county level; determination of the directions in increasing the efficiency of the specialised travel agencies and service providers in the reference field.

Scientific novelty and originality: it consists in the approach of pilgrimages from an interdisciplinary perspective both economically and socially; need for new forms of tourism to be substantiated and integrated in the offer of the specialized travel agencies; elaboration of a development and diversification plan for tourism products and services in collaboration with all institutions; presentation of an analysis of this type of tourism in the county.

Theoretical importance and practical value: The results of this thesis are supported by the value of the findings, conclusions and recommendations that may be useful to researchers in the field of religious cultural tourism, to teachers in higher education, for writing scientific didactic papers.

Implementation of scientific results. The concepts and results of this thesis previously exposed in multiple presentations, conferences, symposiums and published in professional journals have been considered as highly operational and useful.
