Thesis structure. The research is outlined in 159 pages of basic text, 14 images, 12 tables, and includes: an introduction, four chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, a bibliography with 261 titles in 5 languages, 9 Annexes, 66 musical examples. The research results are reflected in 25 scientific publications.
Field of study:history and theory of music (contemporary music).
Goal of the study. The research purpose consists in emphasizing intercultural musical dialogue in the frame of New Music Days International Festival, its role in the evolution of compositional thinking and its impact on Moldavian musical art.
Research objectives: establishing the theoretical, conceptual and methodological landmarks of intercultural research, structuring the concept of interculturalism and associated terminology, determining the vectors and mechanisms of intercultural dialogue in the framework of the New Music Days International Festival, reconstituting the trajectory and spatial dimensions of the Festival, highlighting the impact of the Festival’s intercultural dialogue on the creation of local composers, detecting intercultural reflexes in the selected works.
Scientific novelty of the research: resides in achieving for the first time a new comprehensive study of the dynamics of intercultural dialogue in the frame of New Music Days International Festival in its diversity of intercultural correspondences, initiating a thorough research of festivalisation issues, of management and new music perceptibility aspects, problematics that were only tangentially addressed in musicology from Republic of Moldova, inclusion in the scientific and artistic circulation of main pieces that were made in and for the Festival, arguing for the Festival’s importance for the affirmation of national cultural values and imposing them internationally.
Scientific problem solved lies in identifying and highlighting the main aspects of the phenomenon of the Festival in the context of postmodernity, through musical intercultural dialogue and its impact on the development of contemporary music in Republic of Moldova. Theoretical importance of the thesis is provided by: structuring in the context of contemporary music the concepts of interculturality and intercultural dialogue and their application in research of the New Music Days International Festival, developing the methodology of the intercultural study in an international forum, such as the Festival, using intercultural coordinates for the analysis of representative works of Moldovan contemporary music.
Practical value of the work lies in the possibility of using its scientific results in subsequent studies devoted to contemporary music phenomena. The topics of the thesis can be presented in courses and seminars in the higher artistic educational institutions from the Republic of Moldova. The author's conclusions and recommendations will be an indispensable support for developing an effective art management in the field under investigation.
Implementation of scientific results was done by publishing the articles in national and
international scientific journals, participation in scientific and practical forums, lecturing in
History of national music at the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts, and promoting the
values of contemporary music during the candidate’s activity as composer, participant in the
Festival and author-presenter of the programs at Radio Moldova: Ambient lounge, Ars nova,
Invitation to the Opera, Universal dictionary of music.
