Summary

The research on this issue has clearly showed that the quality of unfolding of competitions, in general, and of football games, in particular, depends to a large extent on the level of training of referees.

Practice demonstrates that no general conception exists at present regarding the training of football referees either on the world or national level. International and national organizations that manage the process of training of football referees only indicate the level to be achieved by these, but do not present the methodic ways of referee training.

Based on the above, there has been conducted an experimental program, on the basis of specific means and methods of training of football referees on all compartments provided by the theory and teaching procedure of sport training. By applying the experimental program in the process of training of football referees in the Republic of Moldova during two competition years, notable results have been obtained in all training compartments, including in the theoretical and practical-methodic training of referees.

The results of this research can be applied as methodic-didactic material within specialized federations as well as in the professional training of students of physical culture institutions majoring in football.
