Summary

Khalil-Butucioc Dorina. The national drama of the 90s in (con)text of postmodernism. PhD thesis in the study of arts and culturology in specialty 654.01 – Theatrical, choreographic art, Chisinau, 2021. Thesis structure: introduction, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography from 182 sources, 166 pages of basic text, declaration of assumption of responsibility, author’s CV. The results of the thesis are reflected in a monograph and 21 scientific papers. Keywords: postmodernism, dramatic text, heterogeneity, de-, re-mythization, deconstruction, fragmentarism, irony, character, de-heroization, intertextuality, „theater in theater”, playwright status, captions. The aim of the paper is to investigate the dramatic discourse from the perspective of postmodernism by exposing its main features and directions, as well as illustrating the applicability of the analysis tools on the national dramatic texts and performances of the 1990s. The research objectives: ➢ defining the concept of postmodernism in drama and theater; ➢ identifying the specificity of the Moldavian postmodernist dramaturgy; ➢ examining the form and background of the postmodern national pieces; ➢ analysis of the paradigm of postmodernism in shows based on Moldavien drama of the 90s. The novelty and scientific originality of the thesis consists in the accomplishment in the Romanian research space of a synthesis of the main contributions that led to the configuration of the phenomenon of postmodernist dramaturgy. The fall into disuse of the old canons of theatrical criticism claims a borrowed instrumentation from various disciplines and implies new practical ways of interpreting contemporary pieces, which allows a more complex investigation of them. Thus, the theoretical works of some foreign and Romanian researchers were analyzed, as well as the plays and performances of the postmodernist national playwrights. The scientific problem solved in the research field consists of designing an overview of the national postmodernist dramaturgy and proposing a theoretical gear that renews the approach to it and its performance. The paper reconnects the contact with the researches in the field undertaken in the last decades in the Romanian and international space and opens the way of new studies on the postmodernist theater. The theoretical and applicative importance of the thesis lies in the proposal of a conceptual apparatus that will allow theater critics to catch signs of the paradigm of postmodernism in theatrical forms of expression. The study can become a landmark for the exegesis concerned with the new research directions of the contemporary theater text and contribute to the development of theatrical criticism and theory. Implementation of scientific results: The recommendations of this study were the basis for the project of setting up the Center for Contemporary Drama in Chisinau. The results of the thesis were applied in the process of creating the Contemporary Drama Course in the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts Chisinau. The basic ideas of the research were reflected in a monograph and 21 articles published in the periodic profile editions of the Republic of Moldova and from abroad and in 20 papers at national and international conferences.
