Summary

Thesis's structure: introduction, three chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography (192 sources), 9 annexes, 145 pages of text. The results of the thesis were reflected in 20 scientific articles, one monograph (group of authors).

Areas of research: Political Sciences.

The thesis’s aim and targets: The thesis’s aim resides in conceptual analysis of labor migration policies in EU, as well as their implementation in EU member-states and the Republic of Moldova during contemporary stage. Research targets: elaboration of methodological framework for researching labor migration in the EU on contemporary stage; exercising theoretical and analytic study of current trends of the labor migration as in the EU, as in the RM; analyses of genesis and core of the EU migration policies in modern times; identification of fundamental challenges, faced by Moldovan labor migrants in the UE in terms of integration in hosting societies; research of challenges related to return and reintegration of Moldovan labor migrants from the EU in the RM.

Scientific novelty and originality: This paper represents a new study and an integrated research of labor migration in the EU in context of complex processes, through which the European community passes, that are correlated with the general tendencies in this area in the RM. This research addresses subject of research in terms of policies applied for efficient management of the migration processes through the prism of the design of migration policies that allows minimizing costs and maximizing the benefits of labor migration, including contribution of Diaspora members to elaboration of development strategies of the country.

The solved scientific problem refers to reconceptualization and elucidation from the scientific and methodological point of view of the essence and forms of labor migration policies in EU member-states, in general, and the RM, in particular, on contemporary stage, resulting in capitalization of benefits and minimization of long-lasting negative effects of labor migration for the development of countries.

Theoretical significance: The content, conclusions and recommendations of this research paper could serve as a theoretical and conceptual support for all those, who analyze multiple aspects of labor migration phenomenon on contemporary stage, particularly through the prism of political sciences.

Applied value: The results of the study could offer an important analytical and applicative support for decision makers and „focal points” within state institutions, international organizations, external donors, EU institutions in charge of or involved in the process of labor migration management, formulation of migration policies and migration mainstreaming in plans and strategies of country development.

Implementation of scientific results: the thesis is drafted in the framework of the Political and Administrative Sciences Department, FIRPAS, MSU; it was presented and defended in the course of meetings of the Department and Profile Scientific Seminar of the MSU. Obtained results were presented in 20 scientific papers, published in collections of Conferences’ papers and specialized magazines from the RM, România, Slovenia, Russian Federation, Georgia, as well as a monography (a group of authors), published in the Lithuania. The research’s results can be used by the decision makers, university and academic institutions, exponents of political and business circles, economists, sociologists, and experts in demography.
