Domain of study: General Psychology.

The purpose this paper is to identify the personal resources contributing to the maintenance of the work engagement among teachers.

Research objectives: to analyze the theoretical aspects of the problem of personal resources and work engagement; to identify the personal resources among teachers; to establish the extent and nature of work engagement of study subjects (teachers), as well as their level of burnout and job satisfaction; examine the relationship between the employees’ personal resources and their degree of work engagement; a comparison of personal resources among engaged and not engaged at work teachers; to elaborate and implement a Program of development of personal resources designed to teachers and to establish its efficiency; the development of science-based recommendations for the increase work engagement among teachers.

Novelty and scientific originality. For the first time in Republic of Moldova research of the problem of work engagement is being conducted. It examines the relationship between the employees’ personal resources and their degree of work engagement. It was developed the psychological profile of personal resources of work engaged teachers and teachers without state of work engagement and it was validated a program of development of personal resources among teachers.

The important scientific problem solved through this research consists in identification of the role of personal resources contributing to the maintenance of the work engagement among teachers, which has led to the elaboration of a program of development of personal resources among teachers, making it possible to maintain the work engagement of teachers with effective means.

Theoretical value of research consists in providing new theoretical information and systematization of current research of problems of personal resources and work engagement. The analysis of foreign studies the concept of work engagement, on the basis of which was proposed the personality profile of work engaged employee. Was elaborated the psychological profile of personal resources of work engaged teachers and teachers without state of work engagement.

The applicative value of the thesis resides in design of a program of development of personal resources that support the work engagement at the teachers. Results of the study may serve as a basis for further research in this area. Also, the results will be useful to managers and HR managers to maintain the work engagement of their staff.

Implementation of the scientific results. The research results have been implemented in the teaching of university courses at the Moldova State University: “General Psychology”, “Psychology of Labour”, “Occupational Health Psychology”, “Psychology of Deviant Behavior”.
