Summary

Field of Study: philology.

The purpose and objectives lie in the mapping of a conceptual basis of the traditional erotic imagery and investigating, in the light of this basic erotology, the derived modern and postmodern theories of the Eros, further exploring the erotic models of the Romanian prose and analyzing, on concrete texts, the imagery of these distinctive eroticons, with extensive references to the Eros rhetoric, with erotic fiction classifications, according to the principle of unification / breaking up of the being of the loved one, with examinations of the characters, of seduction strategies, of other ways of human existence in the Romanian literary erotomachy and, finally, with the study of the erotic imagery in postmodernity, of the deconstruction of the Eros, of the Eros beyond the edges of the text (meta-Eros), of the bookish erotology with the Corinthian geometries of passion.

The novelty and scientific originality of the investigation lies in the analysis, systematization and interference in a unique discourse on Eros, eroticism and sexuality (with all their derivatives) of erotological theories of philosophy, anthropology, sociology, mythology, psychology with literary erotological theories and the establishment, in this way, of the existence of a common imagery field, with distinct structural features and general types of existential reactions. This approach allows the reconstruction of a complex matrix, with a well-defined inner coherence, of the erotic imagery characteristic to modernity and postmodernity.

Principally new basicresults for science and practice obtained are based on the clarification and systematization of the typologies of literary erotologists and eroticons as the nuclei of the erotic imagery and the implementation of this theoretical matrix framework on the Romanian literary texts with representative artistic and hermeneutical value, the fact that allowed the outlining of a detailed general picture of Romanian literary erotic imagery. Investigating the recurrence of erotic archetypes in the modern and postmodern Romanian novel, in correlation with the new forms of amorous sensitivity, makes it possible to establish the research direction of literature erotology, focused on the artistic and ontological articulations of eroticism in literature.

The theoretical significance and the applicative valueof the thesis are found in the demonstration of the impulsive character of the erotic imagery in the establishment of new literary models, of new relations between the characters and of the stimulation of some decisive innovations regarding some fundamental artistic aspects of language, the relation between the world and the human, the correlation between corporality, passion and literary text.

Implementation of results. Both the theoretical aspects debated in the thesis and the concrete textual analyzes open up new perspectives to approach the literary imagery in general. The erotological bases and the foundations of the revealed eroticons offer a critical approach to other topics and artistic aspects of the postwar and contemporary literary process. The proposed research model can serve as a reference for the study of other literary phenomena. The literary challenges of Eros, eroticism, sexuality with their specific imagery reveal broad investigative fields for literary areas that tackle affection, subconsciousness, human relationships, etc
