Summary

Thesis structure. The thesis contains an introduction, three chapters, conclusions and recommendations, bibliography (of 184 sources), 11 annexes, 115 pages of main text, 29 tables, 19 figures. The results are published in 16 scientific papers.

The purpose of the research consisted of establishing interconnections between appreciative style and psychological control for young people from the perspective of specialization in the humanities / exact fields.

Objectives of the research: literature review in the field with respect to the appreciative style and psychological control (locus of control); identifying psychodiagnostic methods for determination of the appreciative style and psychological control; appreciative style typologies and locus of control analysis; highlighting the interconnection between appreciative style and locus of control; development and implementation of a program for personal development of young people; data generalization and highlighting the efficiency of the program; developing the efficient youth profile from the perspective of interconnection appreciative style - psychological control.

Scientific novelty consists in development of the appreciative style and psychological control concepts; identification of the interconnection between appreciative style (detached, reflective, analog, empathic), psychological control (internal / external) and the entities related to them (self-esteem, optimism / pessimism); development of the program for personal development by using the methods of appreciative style and locus of control optimization; determination of the efficient personality profile from the perspective of interconnection appreciative style - psychological control; determination of the efficient personality profile relationship with the field of young people specialization.

Scientific problem solved is determining interconnection appreciative style - psychological control, and conceptualization of the efficient youth profile, which has contributed to the development of a program for personal development through optimization methods of the appreciative style and locus of control.

Theoretical significance consists. The study results complement General Psychology with new experimental data about appreciative style and locus of control for young people, generalizes scientific knowledge on the interconnection appreciative style - psychological control, and the role that exercises in this process of self-esteem, optimistic orientation vs pessimistic one and the field of specialization.

The practical value lies in the possibility to use the study results in exploiting the personal development program in psychological counseling and educational activities; developing individual programs for personal development, interpersonal relationship, young people motivation for success; use of the study results in the teaching of General Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Personality Psychology, Psychological and Educational Counseling courses.

Implementation of scientific results. The research results have been implemented in the framework of continuing education courses for teaching staff at the MSU and in the country; in communications within the national and international symposia and conferences; in the realization of personal development program through optimization methods of the appreciative style and locus of control (Moldova State University); in teaching university courses “General Psychology”, “Adolescent and Adult Psychology”, “Personality Psychology”, “Social Psychology
