The given research outlines the achieving Communicative Competences in learning a foreign language of lyceum students and answers to the pedagogical needs from experience prospective.
The theoretical part of the research deals with the Model for forming communicative competencies in learning the English language for lyceum students through reading newspapers texts which includes: objectives, principles for organizing reading process, condition and criteria to select suitable materials, and a system of formative exercises for working out the text in reading activity.
The notion of communicative competences has been given reasoned arguments and established the types of specific competences in reading newspapers materials.
The experience dimension of the thesis implies the description of the process of applying the Model in educational practice.
The efficiency of the model was confirmed by students’ achievements, which demonstrated a progress at the level of specific competence in reading newspapers texts, so improving English communicative competences.
It has been stated and proved that using newspapers in reading activity contributed to the improving communicative competences that are increasingly important for students who may go to live or work in the target-language community.
The theoretical and practical researches will contribute at improving the process of teaching and learning English language that corresponds to the requirements approved by European Council.
