Summary

Thesis volume and structure: The thesis consists of introduction, 3 chapters, general conclusions and recommendations, bibliography (227 sources). It has 142 pages of basic text, 48 figures, 19 tables. The research domain of the thesis is pedagogical sciences.

The purpose of the research is to conceptualize time as the key-resource of education, the landmark for achieving high quality education and the scientific proof of the managerial model of efficient time management in the educational institution.

Research objectives: to approach time as an education resource; to capitalize time in school/university curricula, to plan competence development in time; to set a time management reference framework; to identify the managerial position efficient action taxonomy in relation with time management; to produce scientific proof of the managerial efficient time management model in the educational institution; to develop and validate a time management competence development program through e-learning for school managers. Novelty and scientific originality resides in perceiving time as educational resource/need, elucidating the time dimension as critical tool for high quality education through designing education/lesson plans and management activity; proving the scientific time management reference framework and the efficient time management model in the educational institution validated through the development of time management competences for school managers.

The important scientific problem solved is the elaboration of an efficient time management model in the educational institution that would include the time management theoretical basis and methodological peculiarities meant to optimize planning – organization -activity/time control/monitoring, identify the managerial position efficient action taxonomy in relation with time management and apply school management efficiency criteria/performance indicators.

The theoretical significance of the research is perceiving time as a philosophical, social and psycho-pedagogical educational resource/need, a managerial resource, identifying a managerial activity optimization method aimed to ensure optimal and efficient use of institutionalized time, proving a scientific time management reference framework.

The practical significance of the thesis resides in the optimal use of time in the school /university curricula; examples of time management competence development in time; the development and validation of a time management competence development program for school managers; the use of e-learning; the elaboration of a managerial position efficient action taxonomy for past-present-future; the adjustment of educational institution management efficiency criteria related to democratic values and European integration to time context; the development of time management questionnaires/tests.

The research findings were implemented at the continuous training courses for teaching and managerial staff, the master studies in educational management conducted by the UPS “Ion Creangă” and the Institute of Educational Sciences, as well as through conferences, seminars, the pilot time management competency development validation program and scientific publications
